I took a big risk when I made this huge painting. I had no idea how it would turn out. In the middle of painting it, I scrapped 1/2 of her face away. I’m glad I surrendered to my creative instincts. This is one of my favorite paintings ever.

It's me! Every new style I paint in, I like to do a self-portrait. The inspiration photo was taken along Lake Michigan after a long coach training retreat with @consciousleadershipgroup. My year-long experience in this program forever changed me. Today, I'm letting in more abundance, love, and overflowing with gratitude for getting to work and play in this life. I have so much gratitude for all the people who've supported me on this journey of coming home to myself; to my inner artist child. Much love y’all.

Those eyes! When I saw this photo of my movement artist Belly (@adambelinda) I knew I needed to paint her. One of the things I appreciate most about her is how solid she is in her role in this world as an artist. It permeates out of her and into those around her. She is both in this outer world we are and in her inner world. We only get to see part of her.
One of the things I do really well is knowing when to stop. The part in me that wants to conform to completeness was BEGGING me to fill in all the white parts of the canvas and paint over the drawing. And I knew I couldn't do that. Part of her is not of this world and can't be defined.

Surprise yourself with all the answers you're looking for in the big, powerful, colorful, and challenging paintings of Jason Hanson.
So much of Jason’s art is not for them. Their purpose in life is to translate source into form. Often it is not until someone sees the work that Jason knows why they were called to paint it. They’re committed to getting more of their art out to more people, as they knows there are messages in each piece for people to receive.
It is not uncommon for people to have big responses when viewing their work in person, including joy, anger, rage, sexual arousal, sadness, or bursting into tears. There are answers waiting to be found in the brush strokes that they are compelled to create.
They were recently asked about why they continue to paint big even though the cost and logistics are much more complex. Their answer came easefully and immediately - “because I had a dream about what to paint, I know I will die if I don’t get it out of me.”
